Jindalee State School Fete 2012

'Out of this World'
Jindalee State School Fete
25th August 2012

We need YOUR help!

The P&C will be holding a Fete this year as its major fundraiser for 2012. We will need everybody’s support (large or small) on the day and in the planning stages. Please return this form to the School Office (or email to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) to let us know how you may be able to help. We require many volunteers to run the Fete and many hands make light work. If everyone pitches in and does their bit it makes it so much easier! I know everyone leads very busy lives these days but there are only two of us on the committee at the moment and we can’t do it by ourselves.

Sessions also cover:
·        the knowledge that effective readers draw upon when reading;
·        ways to engage reluctant children; and
·        strategies for supporting reading with practical tips that work.

Hall Floor and Shoes

Hall, floor and shoes
Our Hall is finally back for use to use. While there are some parts still needing work, we will continue to use the hall in school programs. The new Pulastic flooring system is an improvement on our previous timber floor in being safer for students, having the same rebound for a 30kg student as the timber floor gave a 70kg adult. The new floor also requires less cost for periodic resurfacing, saving the school community many thousands of dollars in maintenance over time.
Being a rubberised compound, the floor has better grip and thus is more susceptible to scuffing. Accordingly, from 2012, we will require all students playing on the floor to have non-marking soles on their  shoes. A sample survey of shoes currently worn by students shows around 80% have non-marking soles already. When planning for new shoes, please ensure students have non-marking soles as part of the specification. Until then, we will plan for activities such that students do not unduly mark the floor with their current shoes.
The rubberised compound compresses when force is applied to it. Unfortunately, narrow-heeled and sharp-edged shoes can cut the surface and we are arranging for mats for people with such shoes. People wearing such shoes, for instance with stiletto-heels, should not walk directly on the floor.
