AIR CONDITIONING: Following exhaustive research and consultation which has been part of a five year process, the P&C at its September 2008 meeting voted to proceed with stage one of the school air-conditioning proposal. This decision was not made lightly and took into consideration the results of an online survey sent out to the wider school community in June 2008, with an overwhelming response of 85% of the 260 responses in favour of proceeding. The first stage completed in Sept 2008 included installation of additional power circuits and the air-conditioning units for six classrooms. This work was carried out by Trevor Johnson FIXZIT Air-conditioning and electrical.
As funds become available and sources of grants are identified the P&C association will continue further stages of the classroom air-conditioning project. We plan to install air conditioning throughout all rooms at the school over a 3 to 5 year period installing the hotter rooms first. The total cost of this project is approx $300,000 ($120,000 electrical upgrade plus $180,000 for the installation of Daikin air conditioning units).
We are conscious of the sustainable issues and undertook extensive discussions in the early stages of the project to ensure these issues were considered with the involvement from a member of the Jamboree Heights Sustainability Group, who is also a parent at the school.
Our children will benefit from the improved conditions and better learning opportunities. With community support these advantages will be enjoyed by all Jindalee students in the next few years. You can view the Proposed Project plan in the link below.
Big Plans We are currently working on a number of grants with our grants writer Louisa Gordon hard at work (see the below link – ‘Update of grants’ – which is updated regularly with the latest information and status of grants). The number of eligible grants are numerous and we are limited only by our resources – i.e. manpower. So we need your help make the most of the huge amount of money up for grabs in these tough economic times. Come on board and join the wonderful group of parents and staff working together to make a difference. Every member of the school who contributes to the P&C fundraising efforts is doing their bit.
