Cultures and Celebrations from around the world!
Welcome back kids, parents and carers!
This term we are investigating different celebrations from various countries around the world. Each time, they will compare the celebrations to similar festivities celebrated in Australia. They will also learn about the country its features a little language and its culture.
Students will use this information to create a poster of one of the celebrations investigated. Their poster will include information about the celebration (what it is and why they celebrate it) and the country (greetings, flag etc...)
Kidz Biz Term Four
Kidz Biz Term Four will include kids sharing once a fortnight, something that is related to the country and its special celebration…
It could be an artefact, photo, picture, drawing, costumes…. in fact anything that you feel will contribute to our discussions!
The countries will go in the order indicated below!
China and Chinese New Year (wk 1 and 2)
Indigenous Australia and Indigenous Festivals

Chile and Chilean Birthdays

India and Indian Ramadan

Hello!
Just a post to let you know about the Kidz Biz Roster for term 3. To avoid any confusion I have decided to keep the sharing to a weekly time slot. This means the kids will have a set day every week to share. Your child’s time is in the table below…..
Here are the weekly topics for Kidz Biz. They fit into the learning and investigations we will be participating in over the term. Please follow them in sequence……
Week 1-Bring in a favourite toy that you own!
Week 2-Do you have a toy that your parents or grandparents owned
as a child?
Week 3-A picture or photo that shows a toy made of wood, plastic,
metal or a different type of material
Week 4-Share “Toy Survey” with class (sent home in week 2)
Week 5-A toy catalogue with different toys made of different
materials
Week 6-What’s in the box?
Week 7-A toy that you push or pull (picture or actual)

Hello Parents/Carers!
Well semester one is drawing to an end and I must say that 1B and myself have had a great time learning! 
Next term we will be participating in a science/technology unit all about Toys, materials, movement and design! It should be a blast!
I will be activating the Virtual Classroom to make it easier to share over next term, and for you and your children to have easier access to the resources we will utilise in the classroom!
I am looking forward to sharing the learning experience with you and your children over 3rd term!

As of the 23rd of March, 1B will be commencing their “KIDZ BIZ” share time roster. Your child’s name is either week 1 or week 2. (i.e. Kyra is week one therefore will do her first share on the 23rd….Kaitey will be week 2 and therefore will share on the 30th…). They will continue to share on that day every fortnight!

Hello everyone!
Well, we are almost at the end of term and have been on a fabulous journey of learning! How time flies when we are having fun! We have jumped right into our first unit of work for the year: “Me and My World”. We are learning lots about ourselves, families and our wider community and healthy “me”…..
I have been sending sight words home for students to assist them in their everyday reading. It is beneficial for students to practice these with you as these will be heard by a teacher aide or myself on a weekly basis….
Some of you may have seen the interactive whiteboard in use in the classroom. Below are some of the websites we visit during class. These are literacy and maths based sites. They are fun, educational and interactive. The kids love them!
Interactive online stories and comprehension.
Phonics made fun!
Lots of maths and literacy stuff!
Write a sentence, jumble it…then put it back together!
Play these games about healthy eating!
Great website that we use for maths and literacy…but heaps more
to have fun with!

Hello Parents
We hope you have had a nice break and all the coughs and colds have cleared so all the children are ready for more reading, writing, maths and learning in other areas. We are beginning a new unit onTOYS integrating the topics of Energy / Change and Materials.
During the first week we will be sending out a term 3 speaking roster as well as a personal sheet on Friends. These sheets will be shared with the class upon their return. The speaking roster will continue on a fortnightly basis.
A reminder to parents that children should be at school by 8-45am to put their bags away and be prepared for class. The first bell goes at 8-50am and all children should be in the classroom at this time ready to begin school.
Readers will continue to be taken home 4 nights a week and must be returned the following day. This practice is a very important part of the learning to read process and requires your continued participation. Please return any readers that may have been left at home from term 2.
