Our Locality
Our school is situated in a leafy suburb with river breezes and gently sloping ridges and hollows. Native vegetation and parkland planting are found in a number of reserve and recreational areas. The suburb is bounded by the Brisbane River and Centenary Highway, with the suburb of Seventeen Mile Rocks across the Highway and Mount Ommaney on the Southern side of Jindalee. Mount Ommaney provides the major shopping precinct, and there are also a number of smaller shopping and commercial areas that provide local settings for restaurants, professional services and retail shopping.

Housing is varied, with a number of styles and sizes evident. Drawing our school population from this suburb and surrounding areas, we have a diverse community with parents and caregivers employed in a number of occupations across a number of services and industries.

Some of our students come from diverse cultural backgrounds, with a variety of languages and cultural heritages much in line with the general mix of the Australian population. We acknowledge our diversity, and also our unity as Australians made up from many peoples of the world.

Our school enjoys strong support from members of the community, with parents choosing to support the school in many various ways. Parents able to help in school during normal operating times are valued volunteers in our classes, uniform shop, canteen and other projects and programs. Our Parent and Citizen’s Association works well to run many school services, community events and to attract funds to our school projects and programs. The Outside School Hours Care program for before and after school care as well as vacation care programs is well supported by community members and a great help where both parents are employed in various jobs.

The school runs programs to train parents in supporting students in Literacy and Numeracy. These benefits then flow on to our students and assist in maintaining our above-average results.
