Religious Education
Classroom Religious Education Program
Children attend as per their enrolment application form specification in order to develop an appreciation of the learning within the program. Parents generally choose for their children to attend regardless of whether the enrolment details reflect any other particular religous background, or no background in religious belief.
As per the provisions of the current Education (General provisions) Act, Religious Education classes generally take place for 30 minutes sessions on Fridays. Volunteer teachers are accredited by the local ministry representatives. The classroom program is Christian-based, and does not follow any particular denominational doctrine.
The program for Year 1 is ‘Beginning with God’, a primer on developing a religious basis to belief. For Years 2 to 6 it is ‘Connect’ and mostly deals with Biblical stories as they give guidance for values underpinning good citizenship, and in Year 7 it is ‘Big Questions’ which presents social dilemmas and asks how the teachings of the previous years helps to solve them.
The program is coordinated through our School Chaplain and administered through the school management team via a Deputy Principal
Workbooks for 'Beginning with God', 'Connect' and 'Big Questions' are supplied through the school and costs included in Term statements.
Denominations of various faiths can apply to have lessons presented as per the requirements under the current Education (General Provisions) Act.
For some years, the school has representatives of the Bahai faith scheduled to present lessons within the school.
Bahá'í Education Classes
Bahá’í Religious Education Classes are based on the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh, the founder of the Baha’i Faith. In Baha’i Religious Education classes the development of spiritual attributes or virtues common to all the world’s major religions are explored. In addition Baha’i Religious Education classes attempt to develop within the students the knowledge, skills, understandings and attitudes required to be world citizens and to embrace the equality of all peoples regardless of race, religion, nation, class, or gender. Students participating in the classes explore ways in which they may be able to contribute to society and serve humanity.
