Friday
27 October is the designated ‘
Day for Daniel’. This annual event,
conducted by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, is a National Day of Action to
raise awareness of child safety, protection and harm prevention.
As
a school, we join in the Day for Daniel as part of our charity support
program each year. We use Day for Daniel to annually focus on our
responsibilities in regard to student protection. The day is not a
fundraiser and would provide our school community with the opportunity to
refresh our training in relation to student protection and raise awareness
about the importance of teaching children about their own protection.
Students
are asked to wear a red shirt or red accessories (e.g. red hairbands, red
socks), along with their school shorts/skorts, in support and recognition of
this important day. They are asked also to join in on a morning walking
bus led by our school adopt-a-cop Senior Constable Ben Harm. This walking
bus will meet on Burrendah road across from Mankinna Street at approximately
8.15am to 8.30am. Look for where the police car is located. This
walking bus will be held for the morning only. We look forward to seeing
as many of our students join in on this walking bus in recognition of Day
for Daniel.
