Wear Red for Daniel Day - Friday 30th October
Friday 30th October is the designated Day for Daniel. This annual event, conducted by the Daniel Morecombe foundation (
www.danielmorcombe.com.au), is a National Day of Action to raise awareness of child safety, protection and harm prevention.
The Jindalee State School Student Council has elected to join in the Day for Daniel as part of their charity support program each year. We use Day for Daniel to annually focus on our responsibilities in regard to student protection. The day is not a fundraiser and would provide our school community with the opportunity to refreshour training in relation to student protection and raise awareness about the importance of teaching children about their own protection.
The Daniel Morecombe foundation provides curriculum lessons and resources to teach our children about their own personal safety through three core messages: Recognise, React and Report. The Daniel Morcombe Child Safety units are currently studied in select year levels at Jindalee as part of our school Health curriculum. More information, including the recently released ‘Orbit’ online game is available from the aforementioned website.
