Last week also saw the retirement of one of our staff who carries with her many years of school and community culture and history. Glenda O’Brien has been with our school for 36 years. Over this period she has seen many changes in staff, school buildings and students. During her time at our school she has influenced the lives of thousands of students, many of whom have worked directly with her on many occasions. Mr Polities let me know of the great admiration he had for the work she has done, her friendly disposition and support over his years at our school and offers her his best wishes for a very happy and fulfilling retirement.
I also have been impressed from my short time at Jindalee by her commitment to the students, her care and concern for others, her competence and her smile. She will be missed and takes with her many years of our school’s oral history. The value of such knowledge to an organisation can never be undersold. It is this knowledge when shared, that assists in building a strong and sustainable culture that acknowledges the important and memorable events and people that have built our school into what it is today. Possibly Glenda does not realise that as a result of her vast contributions over many years, she is one of these memorable people.
On behalf of the Jindalee staff I wish Glenda a happy and successful retirement and all the very best for the next adventure. Our thanks also go to her for her contributions over the last 36 year. Best wishes.
