The time has come for our Korean students to leave us and return home to their country. After a wonderful seven weeks of visiting interesting places around Brisbane, learning in an Australian classroom and meeting new friends, the Korean children had their farewell speeches at Assembly today and tomorrow night fly out for Seoul.
Their teachers, Kevin Baek and Yunhee Lee, would like to thank the families from our school who have hosted students in their homes and to the buddies who have been great friends to our visitors over these past weeks. The students went to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Movieworld, Brisbane City, Science Centre, Seaworld, Moreton Island, Laser Force and sailing at Manly.
Kevin and Yunhee would like to say thank you to the teachers, the students and other staff at Jindalee and to the home-stay parents. “It is a valuable experience for our children to learn how to interact with children from another culture and in some cases, even to nurture life-long friendships. This program has been happening for seven years at Jindalee school and we are grateful for the ongoing cooperation that we have established. All Korean students have enjoyed this cultural experience very much. It can’t be successful without support from Jindalee school.”
Jindalee is now recognised as a major receiver of foreign students in Queensland.
