As previously mentioned in this newsletter, I will be taking leave for the first half of 2014. Whilst I had considered this option earlier in the year, it became more urgent due to the diagnosis of a heart condition this year and the requirement for corrective surgery. This is my tenth year as principal of Jindalee State School and I have had the pleasure to meet and work with some wonderful children and their families during that time. Jindalee too is a wonderful school and there exists a genuine spirit of kindness in our community. This is no more evident than during times of difficulty and challenge as we have encountered at times like the floods. I am very grateful for the friendship and support I have received and the abundant satisfaction I have enjoyed from being able to be with you on an amazing journey for the past ten years. There exists in our community, a ‘selflessness’. There is a realisation that our school is not about what we have done for others, and a bitterness borne of ingratitude, but rather it acknowledges what others have done for us and fills us with happiness and gratitude for the opportunities we have received. As the season of peace and goodwill unfolds, I wish you all a joyous holiday and a celebration with family and loved ones. I trust that it will be a time of hope and renewal and caring, and for everything that you would wish for each other. I also wish you a wonderful 2014 and look forward to an amazing year for Jindalee in 2014.
Warm regards,Michael PolitiesPrincipal
