Same Day Student Absence Notifications
The Queensland Government has released
its response to recent tragic events involving a state school student in
out-of-home care and some of the new requirements for schools have been
highlighted in certain media.
The immediate requirement is that any
student in out-of-home care must have their absence from school reported to the
caregiver without delay. Jindalee State School has already developed an action
plan to ensure that this outcome is achieved.
The other significant development for
schools is the introduction of a requirement for same-day reporting of student
absences for all students from the beginning of 2017. Essentially, what this
means for schools is that we must have a system in place to report unexplained
student absences to parents as early as possible on the day of the absence.
Jindalee we have started working on developing an implementation plan.
