Jindalee SS promotes the notion that all students, particularly Year 6 students, are student leaders as their actions and responsible choices model and influence others. We aim to facilitate and embed leadership skills into everyday life at our school with the understanding that being a leader is taking responsibility for making a positive difference in our school and in other people’s lives. Leaders earn the respect of others through their actions.
Student Leaders
Ten school leaders are selected before the end of a school year via a rigorous selection process, for the following school year. All Year 5 students have the opportunity to nominate to be a Student Leader during this process, so the team is selected ready to start their Year 6 year as seniors. This student leadership team consists of two School Captains and a team of eight school leaders comprising two Special Events Leaders, two Music Leaders, two Community Relations Leaders and two Sport Leaders. Student Leaders work as part of a team to determine and achieve collective goals as well as taking on the responsibility to carry out a community service project through to successful completion.

House Captains
At the beginning of each school year, eight Year 6 students are elected to represent their sports house. This team consists of two House Captains per sporting House of Cuthbert, Hogan, Elliott and Gould. House Captains help build positive team spirit and promote sportsmanship and participation in sports across our school. These leaders assist with assisting the organisation of sports days, evens and practice sessions, setting up equipment and with encouraging and motivating House members.

Student Councillor
Jindalee State School's Student Council is a group of students who have been elected by their class to represent the views of all students, provide a student voice and to improve student life in school.
The purpose of the Student Council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership skills by organising and carrying out school activities and community service projects. They help communicate and share student ideas, interests and concerns with the school wide community.
In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student body.
Each year 4, 5 and 6 class elects two Student Councillors: One for Semester 1 and one for Semester 2.
